Who can forget those incredible shows of early television.
Gunsmoke was a Saturday night ritual for our house. Sid Ceasar's Show of Shows was another. Red Skelton,
Jack Benny, Burns and Allen, Steve Allen, Milton Berle, Ernie Kovaks, Dick Van Dyke, I Remember Mama, Amos & Andy,
Ted Macks Amatuer Hour, Ed Sullivan, Andy Willaims, Perry Como, Boston Blackie, The Untouchables, Mr. & Mrs. North, The
Mickey Mouse Club, The Wonderful World of Disney, Kula, Fran and Ollie, Howdy Doody, Captain Kangaroo, Dragnet, Loretta Young,
and so many more that it boggles the mind. Television was new, fresh and not only entertained us with pure laughter, musical
spectactulars, drama and fantasy, it also brought the world to our door step, showed us how to live and made the world
grow smaller. We saw man land on the Moon, suffered through the assinations of John Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy and Martin
Luther King. We sat spellbound at the Hallmark Hall of Fame productions, fantasied at the Flying Nun, learned animals could
talk in Mr. Ed, and said goodnight every week to Mrs. Calibash along with Jimmy Durante. What a wonderful time we had!
